Starting seeds indoors gives slow-growing flowers a head start and saves money.
Basics
- Check the seed packet for when to start, counted back from your last frost date
- Use fresh seed-starting mix and clean containers
- Keep the mix moist but not soggy
- Give seedlings bright light; a grow light a few inches above works well
- Thin to one strong seedling per cell
