Plants in staggered rows
47
- Bed area
- 40 sq ft
- In a square grid
- 40
- Cost, staggered
- $212
- Cost, grid
- $180
For a 10 x 4 ft bed with plants 12 inches apart, plan on about 40 plants in a square grid or 47 in staggered rows: about $180 to $212. Staggered rows fill in faster and look more natural.
Plant edges a half-spacing in from the border. Some gardeners plant a little closer for a full look sooner; give plants that need airflow the full spacing. Estimates only.
