Plan a flower bed

A little planning on paper saves money and gives a fuller, longer-blooming bed.

Steps

1. Pick a spot you'll see every day
2. Measure it and sketch it on grid paper
3. Put tall plants at the back, or in the middle of island beds
4. Plant in groups of three, five or seven of each flower
5. Choose plants that bloom at different times
6. Start small; it's easier to keep a small bed looking great
